When should I plant vegetables in zone 5?
I started my first garden this year. I live in west-central Illinois, the area 5. We still get some frost, do I have to wait to till the earth and all that until it is hot? Then the plant May when it's hot or what? I'm new this so any advice would be great. I separate cages from the garden tomato, but I want to do things like green peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, strawberries, onions, watermelons.
I think after Memorial Day around June should be a highlight for the plant. more in their area of its plant in early May, but the problem is that you can still get a frost and all their plants die.
