I have to put a baby seat in the 4 "opening between the kitchen and living room. The door is about 3"
too short. I wanted to put two pieces of 2×4 at each end, but the husband said he did not "look" good, so I need ideas. I thought putting molding around the opening anyway it highlights anyway, but I'm not sure how to do and what type of construction of the smelter use. Our house is a small (1500 square feet) of cod in the CAP. What would look good? Each piece is painted cast aside.
Use that the door for a few months, right? How about a small solid piece of furniture, such as a library to reduce the gap. Temporary or part of a false wall extending the wall and norrow door, you can paint or cover should do when you do not go to the door.
